On our drive to our lodge in Serengeti park those guys were hanging out right at the side of the road. It was like they wanted to make some tired tourists very happy.
So apparently trees are not a safe place to hide from lions.

Can it get any more african? I think not. The whole time I was expecting the title song of 'The Lion King' to start: 'Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba ...'
Two giraffe fighting by bashing their necks together
who can spot the two leppards in this picture?
This picture is grainy and lacks detail, because it has been heavily magnified and exposure has been turned up. But at least we can see them now. (And one has to keep in mind that they were ca. 50m away from the road.)
And that is how it looks like when a leppard has been spotted
There were quite a number of hippos in that small pond. And the smell of hippos is not a nice one.
and then our dreams came true and we stumbled across another leppard in a tree that was much closer to the road.
Fun fact: If a lions lies like that it is probably a male. Female lions find it more comfortable to lie with one leg to the left and one to the right of the branch.
You can see clearly that this lion wears a fashionable collar with a transponder. Doesn't seem to bother it much.
Lions can go up and down trees, but is more like walking and not climbing. The leppards e.g. were a lot more skilfull in that respect.
Somehow the close-ups of those animals always make me smile.
I was waiting for the Lion King or Simba the White Lion to appear.

This is another impressive demonstration that birds should always be shown from the side. Birds lokk stupid when shown from the front. Always.
That moment was absolutely amazing. Gnus and zebras were moving all around us.
Animals up to the horizon.
